Eternal
Notes
Timeless eternity is but the child, the heir, of two proud parents: divine perfection and infinitude, who themselves are married to one another and cannot be divorced.
Barrett, Matthew. None Greater, The Undomesticated Attributes of God. Baker Books, 2019., Ch 8
That God is eternal is really good news. Being immortal means he is also self-existent and self-sufficient. It is precisely because God has no beginning that he is dependent on no one and no thing. Instead, he is “immovably fixed in his own being,” for “none gave him his life,” and so “none can deprive him of his life.”
Barrett, Matthew. None Greater, The Undomesticated Attributes of God. Baker Books, 2019., Ch 8
As He is not more in one place than in another, but is everywhere equally present, so He does not exist during one period of duration more than another. With Him there is no distinction between the present, past, and future; but all things are equally and always present to Him. With Him duration is an eternal now.
